consider

(verb) to think about something carefully, especially in order to make a decision
Example: After considering all the options, Della decided to buy a used car


avoid
avoid /əˈvɔɪd/
(verb) to prevent something bad from happening
Example: To avoid going out of business, owners should prepare a proper business plan


delay
delay /dɪˈleɪ/
(noun) a period of time when somebody/something has to wait because of a problem that makes something slow or late
Example: The bus was delayed due to inclement weather


prevent
prevent /prɪˈvent/
(verb) to stop somebody from doing something; to stop something from happening
Example: By encouraging teenagers not to smoke, doctors are hoping to prevent many cases of cancer


miss
miss /mɪs/
(verb) to be or arrive too late for something
Example: Good morning, Miss Sarah.


resist

(verb) to refuse to accept something and try to stop it from happening
Example: He couldn't resist showing off his strength.


mean

(verb) to have something as a meaning in the same or another language
Example: These words mean "and so on".

(verb) to no longer move; to make somebody/something no longer move
Example: Stop making noise.


forgive

(verb) to stop feeling angry with somebody who has done something to harm, annoy or upset you; to stop feeling angry with yourself
Example: Forgive my interrupting but I really don't agree with that.


deny

(verb) to say that something is not true
Example: He denies attempting to murder his wife.


escape
escape /ɪˈskeɪp/
(verb) to get away from a place where you have been kept as a prisoner or not allowed to leave
Example: They narrowly escaped being killed.


suggest

(verb) to put forward an idea or a plan for other people to think about
Example: I suggest being on time.


dislike

(verb) to not like somebody/something
Example: Much as she disliked going to funerals (= although she did not like it at all), she knew she had to be there.


finish

(verb) to stop doing something or making something because it is complete

anticipate

(verb) to expect something
Example: They anticipate moving to bigger premises by the end of the year.


keep

(verb) to continue to have something and not give it back or throw it away
Example: I'm very sorry to keep you waiting.


involve
involve /ɪnˈvɑːlv/
(verb) if a situation, an event or an activity involves something, that thing is an important or necessary part or result of it
Example: We've agreed to involve disabled students taking part in our Santa Claus activities for children in the neighbourhood.


enjoy

(verb) to get pleasure from something
Example: I really enjoyed watching that film.


appreciate
appreciate /əˈpriːʃieɪt/
(verb) to recognize the good qualities of somebody/something
Example: We would appreciate you letting us know of any problems.


detest

(verb) to hate somebody/something very much
Example: There are some vegetables which children truly detest eating.
