(noun) a period of time worked by a group of workers who start work as another group finishes

(noun) objects that can be moved, such as tables, chairs and beds, that are put into a house or an office to make it suitable for living or working in
Example: Williams is buying some furniture for his new apartment.

(noun) physical harm caused to something which makes it less attractive, useful or valuable
Example: The damage to his car was considerable.

(verb) to fall down or fall in suddenly, often after breaking apart

(adjective) covering a large area; great in amount

(noun) a device that is placed inside a car engine, clock, radio, etc. and that produces the electricity that makes it work

(verb) to raise somebody/something or be raised to a higher position or level
Example: He lifted his trophy over his head.


volcano

(noun) a mountain with a large opening at the top through which gases and lava (= hot liquid rock) are forced out into the air, or have been in the past
Example: This volcano hasn't erupted for years.


typhoon

(noun) a violent tropical storm with very strong winds
Example: Such a terrible typhoon is spreading over the country.

(adjective) sudden and unexpected, often in an unpleasant way

Celsius

(adjective) of or using a scale of temperature in which water freezes at 0° and boils at 100°
Example: Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

(noun) the land next to or near to the sea or ocean

(noun) a sudden, violent shaking of the earth’s surface

(verb) when a volcano erupts or burning rocks, smoke, etc. erupt or are erupted , the burning rocks, etc. are thrown out from the volcano
Example: Hot lava erupted from the crust.

(noun) a sports event that has been arranged to take place on a particular date and at a particular place
Example: The price of the house included many fixtures and fittings.


flashlight
flashlight /ˈflæʃlaɪt/
(noun) a small electric lamp that you can hold in your hand and carry with you
Example: The children used the flashlight to find a pen under their bed.


funnel
funnel /ˈfʌnl/
(noun) a device that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, used for pouring liquids or powders into a small opening
Example: He poured wine into a bottle through a funnel.


highland
highland /ˈhaɪlənd/
(adjective) connected with an area of land that has hills or mountains
Example: She lives in a highland region of Vietnam.


ladder
ladder /ˈlædər/
(noun) a piece of equipment for climbing up and down a wall, the side of a building, etc., consisting of two lengths of wood or metal that are joined together by steps or rungs
Example: My father asked me to hold a ladder for him.


latch

(noun) a small metal bar that is used to fasten a door or a gate. You raise it to open the door and drop it to fasten it.
Example: The latch on this door was broken.

(noun) the edge of something in the shape of a circle
Example: The kid ate an egg cupcake with the gold rim.

(noun) a very heavy fall of snow, usually with a strong wind
Example: The snowstorm last month caused a lot of damage for the residents here.


thunderstorm

(noun) a storm with thunder and lightning and usually very heavy rain
Example: We are used to suffering from the annual thunderstorms.


tidal

(adjective) connected with tides (= the regular rise and fall of the sea)

(noun) a regular rise and fall in the level of the sea, caused by the pull of the moon and sun; the flow of water that happens as the sea rises and falls

tornado

(noun) a violent storm with very strong winds that move in a circle. There is often also a long cloud that is narrower at the bottom than the top.
Example: A lot of people died in the tornado yesterday.
